To be honest, I was not intending to write this article.  I had just taken a seat at the table to discuss the unbelievable hypocrisy of those denigrating Ted Nugent over remarks he made at the NRA convention this weekend, in which he called on voters to “ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November [1].”  The media has, predictably, taken this as a threat to President Obama’s life (while ignoring the “blood in the streets” call of the New Black Panthers [1a] and the “kill their leaders” call of Louis Farrakhan [1b]), which culminated in an interview with the Secret Service who ultimately found that Nugent meant the President no harm [2] (go figure).  Evidently, metaphors have a different definition in the Progressive dictionary (but then again, so does the word “communist.”)

The real purpose of this article is to briefly highlight the tactics routinely deployed by the degenerate herd of Communists over at Think Progress against their own readers, the purpose of which is to deliver a particular emotional response to incite some sort of righteous political indignation.

While wandering across the Think Progress propaganda outlet website, my attention was caught by a headline which read [3]:

Cantor Suggests Raising Taxes On The Poor: ‘You’ve Got To Discuss That Issue’

The Think Progress article noted that Eric Cantor, the Republican House Majority Leader, wanted the poor to contribute to federal income taxes and have some “skin in the game.”  Cantor elaborated:

We also know that over 45 percent of the people in this country don’t pay income taxes at all, and we have to question whether that’s fair. And should we broaden the base in a way that we can lower the rates for everybody that pays taxes.

Cantor was further questioned by ABC’s Jon Karl:

Just wondering, what do you do about that? Are you saying we need to have a tax increase on the 45 percent who right now pay no federal income tax?

The Think Progress article summed up the commentary by stating:

ThinkProgress has repeatedly explained why many Americans don’t pay income taxes — most either don’t make enough money or are college students or seniors with no yearly incomes. And those Americans are subject to various other forms of taxation, including the federal payroll tax.

Excuse me?  They don’t make enough money to pay income taxes?  Surely they make some money.  Why can’t that money be taxed?  Simple – the poor, who consume the vast and substantial majority of the social welfare entitlements, should be carried by the rich.  In other words, the poor need “social justice.”

To boot, these poor who “don’t make enough money” or are “college students or seniors with no yearly incomes” evidently make up 47% of the country, because that is the percentage of Americans who pay a net of zero in federal income taxes [4] [5].  Congratulations – if you make more than about $50,000 you’re dragging the rest of society along with you by funding their very existence [6] while they contribute a net of nothing in income tax to their own federal handouts.

To make their point more clear, Think Progress references a previously published article entitled [7]:

House Republicans Revive Lie That Richest One Percent of Taxpayers Pay 40 Percent of All Taxes

In the referenced article, Think Progress “proves” the claim of the wealthiest shouldering an unequal burden of taxes a “lie” by carefully substituting the phrase “all taxes” for “income taxes.”  The two are not the same, but Think Progress evidently assumes their readers are too stupid to notice.  Brazenly, Think Progress even explicitly notes this point early in the article and the uses it to solicit the faulty Progressive emotional response that the rich somehow still aren’t paying their “fair share.”

The “proof” is bolstered by the claim that the poor, who pay a net income tax of nothing, still have to pay sales tax, payroll taxes, and excise taxes (those imposed on things like gasoline, tobacco, and alcohol).  This is the same argument that is routinely trotted out by Progressives to support illegal immigration – “Hey, don’t say they’re not paying taxes by filing fraudulent W-4’s with stolen social security numbers!  They pay sales taxes!”

The disingenuous nature of Think Progress is mind boggling.  You’d be wise to get used to this sort of emotional dirtbaggery, as it will be in overwhelming supply when these people finally pull back the Progressive sheets and reveal themselves to be exactly who they’ve been since the 1920s (Communists).
